Pure Red Line Crystal Shrimp (PRL)

$20.99

The Pure Red Line Crystal Shrimp (PRL) was introduced into the US market in early 2014. What separated PRL from normal crystal red shrimp was the fact that they are pure. Meaning, they had never been bred with golden bee shrimp to enhance the shrimp coloration. It is common practice for crystal breeders to use golden shrimp to enhance the overall white coloration on their crystal colonies. Therefore, PRL were developed through selective breeding over many generations.

We breed pure red line shrimp while also importing some. The ones we breed favor a little harder of water while the imported PRL seem to do best in softer water. Although, the following parameter will work for both options.

Tank Parameters

  • Ph: 6.2 to 6.8

  • Gh: 4 to 6

  • Kh:  0 to 2

  • TDS: 100 to 160

  • Temp: 68 to 74

Tank Equipment

  • Filter: Matten Filter

  • Substrate: Brightwell Rio Escuro or Cafe Soil, Fluval Shrimp Stratum

  • Water: RO/DI Water remineralized with Salty Shrimp Gh+

  • Decor: Malaysian Driftwood, Java Moss and Indian Almond Leaves
